#WomenBehind18Keys: Carole Stone CBE

Carole is a British author and freelance radio and television broadcaster. She was made a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2015 and runs The Carole Stone Foundation to bring people together to make for a fairer global society. She is a member of the 18 Keys campaign committee.

Can you share a bit about your background?

I worked for the BBC for over ten years and produced the topical discussion series, Any Questions? After leaving the BBC I set up a joint venture with the polling giant YouGov PLC – YouGovStone LTD – a combined polling company and think tank.

Why are you supporting the 18 Keys Project?

I am a regular member of St Martin-in-the-Fields and heard about the project to provide safe and stable accommodation to women experiencing homelessness. I am very happy to support a sanctuary that addresses homelessness for women.

What does having a home mean to you?

Security.

What is your favourite room at home?

The kitchen. I am never far from a cup of tea!

What do you like to do for fun, when you’re not at home?

I like to hold ‘salons’ to bring people together and exchange ideas.

The 18 Keys project will come to life in a redeveloped property owned and managed by The Connection at St Martin’s.

Our goal is to raise £2.3m. Your support will help pay for the redevelopment, which will include one-to-one therapy rooms, studio apartments, emergency bed spaces and a new communal area.

You can make a one-off donation, or set up a regular donation. Donate here.
